East Texas' own JB and the Moonshine Band's "Perfect Girl" video surpassed 1 million views on YouTube yesterday. So what does this mean exactly? With the help of Wikipedia and Google, I'm going to attempt to put this into perspective for all of us.

According to Big Site of Amazing Facts, the following are all true of 1 million:

  • 1 million pennies stacked one on top of another reach almost one mile high and would tip the scale at 5,580 pounds.
  • In other 1 million fun facts, 1 million inches and feet equals 15.7 miles and 189.4 miles, respectively.
  • If you had enough beer to fill 1 million cans, you could fill one-fourth of a football stadium.

JB and The Moonshine Band's "Perfect Girl" video, which went live on YouTube August 29, 2010, took just under two years to reach this huge milestone. Not bad for a few guys from Tyler, Texas. Let's do one more fun fact before we wrap this up:

  • 1 million minutes equals 1.9 years, which means people have spent a total of more than six years watching the 3:17 video. So, go ahead, watch it again.

OK, I can't stop. One more fact, this time about counting to 1 million. Let's say you can count from 1 to 100 in one minute. If you keep counting, without stopping, for eight hours every day, only taking time off to eat, sleep, and go to work or school, you would reach 1,000,000 in 20 days, 6 hours and 40 minutes, or about three weeks.

Think about that.
