Joey + Rory are nominated for an award at the upcoming 2016 Grammy Awards, and while they will not be able to attend themselves, due to Joey Feek's terminal cancer, their loved ones will make sure that the husband-and-wife duo is well represented.

In a new blog post, Rory Feek reveals that their daughters Heidi and Hopie, as well as their manager Aaron, have headed to Los Angeles to stand in for the Feeks at the awards ceremony and related events -- "[r]epresenting us. Seeing and even meeting some of their musical heroes and having a wonderful time I hope. And raising a glass and toasting to their mom and dad and this extraordinary, ordinary life we are all living," Feek writes.

"The girls have asked me to write something for them to read … just in case. I told them not to worry about it, but they insist. I can’t imagine our names being called. But then again, Joey and I also couldn’t have imagined us being where we are at all … the good parts or the bad," he continues. "So I will write something. And when she’s awake, I will run what I’ve written by Joey like I do all these blog posts. And she will say, 'it’s beautiful honey,' and then gently point out the words I’ve misspelled and let me know if I’ve left off something important, or am coming across sounding arrogant or insincere.

"... I might have the words that bring characters to life," Feek adds. "But my wife has the character that brings my words to life."

Rory Feek also says that his wife "tried to talk me into going with them … many, many times," even buying him a plane ticket, but he refuses to leave her side.

"I can’t leave her. I won’t," Feek explains. "I have done many foolish things and made lots of mistakes in my life, but this isn’t going to be one of them."

Instead, the Feeks, their daughter Indiana and Joey Feek's parents and sisters will watch the 2016 Grammy Awards from her room.

"We’ll watch the presenters and performances and scan the cutaways to the audience for our daughters and our manager in the sea of people dressed-to-the-nines for the big night. And we will smile at each other and wonder how in the world we got so blessed. How we’ve come so far without going anywhere at all," Rory Feek says. "... It’s an honor for us to just be a part of that night, it truly is."

Joey + Rory's "If I Needed You" is competing against the Brothers Osborne; Charles Kelley, Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay; Little Big Town; and Blake Shelton and Ashley Monroe for Best Country Duo / Group Performance.

The 2016 Grammy Awards will air live on CBS on Feb. 15 beginning at 8PM ET. The televised ceremony will be preceded by the 2016 Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, which is scheduled to run from 3:30PM ET until 6:30PM ET, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. The latter event will be streamed live via the Grammy Awards’ official website and CBS.com.
