Last week Josh Hamilton became the 16th player ever to hit four home runs in a single game, securing himself a place in the history books — as if he hadn’t done enough already. Now, the bat he used that night in Baltimore is headed to Cooperstown to forever live in the Hall of Fame. It broke last night in the Rangers’ 13-6 win over the Angels, so now it can officially be retired to the Hall.

Josh said:

I cracked it on the last pitch, but I got an RBI single, right? So it died a hero.”

The good thing is, Josh can handle any bat in the rack, so even though the boomstick is retired, there are plenty more waiting to take it place! We’re just through 24 games, and already Hamilton is batting .402 with 18 home runs and 44 RBIs. He leads the majors in all three categories. He is only seven home runs behind his total from ALL of last season.
