On Saturday, Nov. 19, Keep Tyler Beautiful will host a community collection event joining thousands of local organizers holding recycling events across the country to celebrate America Recycles Day (ARD).

This program is a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful, which is designed to help communities spotlight their recycling efforts with thousands of local events focused on how and what to recycle. Tyler Recycles Day will be held from 8 a.m.to noon at the Tyler Recycling Center located at 418 N. Bois D’Arc Ave.

This year, Ark-La-Tex Shredding Company and Interstate All Batteries will be providing special services for the duration of the event. Ark-La-Tex Shredding will offer free personal document shredding for individuals and businesses. There also will be a collection station for all types of batteries, hosted by Interstate All Batteries. Complimentary giveaways will be available to residents who participate and will be on a first come, first serve basis.

“America Recycles Day provides all of us the opportunity to learn how to recycle more of the right things in the right way,” states Keep Tyler Beautiful Board Chair Sarah Wruck. “We can be a part of making recycling more economically viable, while diverting items from our landfills for a better environment.”

Tyler residents will also be able to sign up for the City of Tyler’s Curbside Recycling program. Staff will be on hand to assist customers about recycling.

“America Recycles Day provides a key moment in time to regain momentum for recycling in America and to help make recycling a daily social norm across the country,” said Brenda Pulley of Keep America Beautiful. “Get involved by conducting an America Recycles Day event in your hometown. Take the ‘#BeRecycled’ pledge and invite your friends, family and neighbors to do the same. Let’s get people recycling in every aspect of their lives – at home, at work and on the go!”
