If you grew up watching Mr. Rogers like I did then you probably remember the puppets, like Daniel the Tiger and King Friday.

The King had lost his country when he arrived and Fred Rogers thought it would be fun to name him King Friday the Thirteenth. Each time a Friday the Thirteenth arrived, King Friday celebrated his birthday.

Happy Birthday, King Friday!

Fred Rogers received a Lifetime Achievement Award during the 24th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 1997, and in that speech he once again reminds us all to take a minute and be thankful.

"All of us have special ones who have loved us into being. Would you just take, along with me, ten seconds to think of the people who have helped you become who you are, those who have cared about you and wanted what was best for you in life. Ten seconds of silence, I'll watch the time."
