This week's KNUE "Artist Spotlight" of the week goes to Joe Nichols. Joe has been in the studio recording new music, and KNUE is so excited. Joe Nichols has that George Strait sound and is truly a great guy.

Joe lives in East Texas now, and I've had the chance to talk with him from time to time. He is so wrapped up in his precious little girl, Dylan River Nichols, born on April, 17, 2010, that he literally can't keep from smiling when you mention her name. That's a true daddy!

Joe was born and raised in Arkansas and pretty much took the country industry by storm when he first came on the scene. With two back-to-back No. 1 hits with Brokenheartsville" and "The Impossible," country music knew it had a star. Joe kept the winning streak going with two more No. 1 hits and eight Top 10 hits. He has four Grammys and several "Best New Artist" awards as well.

The one thing that all the great country artist say about Joe Nichols is that he is the real deal. Merle Haggard told a reporter once that he sees Joe Nichols as an artist who will carry his own musical legacy forward. Pretty awesome words, especially from the "Hag."

The last time I spoke with Joe, was a month or so ago, and I was on him about recording some new tunes. He said that was exactly what he was doing. Listen for his latest hit  "Sunny and 75" on KNUE.

Joe Nichols is back, and that's why he is the KNUE "Artist Spotlight' of the week!
