KNUE ‘Hometown Hero’ of the Week: Army Sgt. Kelly Brown of Kilgore
All of us at 101.5 KNUE are proud to be part of East Texas, and we are especially proud to live in a place where we hold our military and first responders in such high regard. KNUE is proud to announce this week’s “Hometown Hero,” Army Sgt. Kelly Brown. Sgt. Brown was nominated by Rosemary Brown, who says that Sgt. Kelly Brown is dedicated to God, his family and his country — always putting others before himself.
A Kilgore High School graduate from the class of 1993, Sgt. Brown joined the Texas National Guard at the age of 32. He has served since 2007 and during that time has volunteered for deployment to Iraq from 2009-2010 and Afghanistan from 2012-2013.
Upon Sgt. Brown’s return from Afghanistan, Sgt. Brown was selected to the Active Guard Reserve services in the Texas National Guard. He now serves full time duty with the 111th EN BN and is stationed at Camp Bowie in Brownwood.
To show our appreciation for all that Sgt. Brown has done for his country, he will receive a plaque from Congratulations Awards in Jacksonville.
