Legendary NFL Broadcaster Pat Summerall Dies at 82

Pat Summerall, one of the great NFL broadcasters who called 16 Super Bowls, has passed away. He was 82.

Summerall played 10 seasons in the NFL, mostly as a placekicker, before embarking on one of the most legendary broadcast careers in history. He worked for CBS from 1963 to 1994 before moving to Fox until his retirement in 2002.

He worked alongside legend John Madden for 21 seasons, many of which were spent covering the Dallas Cowboys.

Summerall was a fixture in the Cowboys scene, not just because of his broadcasts but also because he lived in Southlake, mere minutes away from Texas Stadium. He worked alongside Madden for Super Bowl XII between the Cowboys and Pittsburg Steelers, which remains the highest-rated sports television program of all-time.

His call to open the game is one to remember. Rest in peace, Pat. You will be missed by all of us NFL fans.
