Partnering with local historic preservation organizations, the City of Tyler sought to engage artists within the community to create works of art that could be used in a 2017 calendar featuring local landmarks.

The “Landmarks” exhibit opened on April 30 at Gallery Main Street and has been displayed throughout the month of May. The public was asked to vote on which of the entrants should be designated for each month of a 2017 calendar. The 12 pieces with the most votes were chosen.

Calendars will be available next month for purchase at the following locations:
• Tyler Development Center located at 423 W. Ferguson St.
• Historic Tyler located at 110 E. Charnwood St.
• Smith County Historical Society located at 125 S. College Ave.
• Gallery Main Street located at 110 W. Erwin St.

Calendars are $10. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the continued efforts of the Historic Preservation Department as well as Heart of Tyler.
