Michael Young, who spent 13 years as a fan favorite with the Texas Rangers, has decided to a retire, according to a report from ESPN Dallas.

The seven-time All-Star split the 2013 season with Philadelphia and Los Angeles, but he’ll be remembered for his lengthy career with the Rangers, with whom he played in two World Series.

Young was a versatile player who was moved several times over his career to accommodate for new players in the Rangers organization. He started at second base, moved to shortstop after Texas acquired Alfonso Soriano, to third when Elvis Andrus moved up and mostly as a designated hitter when the team signed Adrian Beltre.

He will finish his career as an exact .300 hitter. Young won the batting title with a .331 average in 2005.

Young was traded to the Rangers in 2000 as part of a deal for pitcher Esteban Loaiza. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 1997 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.
