Happy Dump the Pump Day!

The American Public Transportation Association reserved this day to encourage people to ride public transportation throughout the day instead of driving your car.

To celebrate National Dump the Pump Day, Longview Public Transit is offering FREE rides for all passengers, sponsored by the American Transportation Association per the Longview News-Journal.

Mayor Andy Mack took it one step further declaring June 21 as “Dump the Pump Day" during the June 14 Longview City Council meeting.

Dump the Pump day started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3 (and more) per gallon. The APTA wanted to remind people they could save money using public transportation.

Did you know that the average saving for a person who switches his or her daily commute from driving to taking public transportation is $10,160 per year (based on the American Public Transportation Association June Transit Savings Report)?
