On Saturday, April 11, the Dalton Gang will ride again in downtown Longview, as the Gregg County Historical Museum will re-enact the famous bank robbery from May 23, 1894.

The Dalton Gang's robbery of First National Bank was one of the Old West's biggest shootouts with more 200 shots fired. The gang comprised of well-known bandit Bill Dalton, Jimm Wallace and brothers Jim and Judd Nite, who entered into the gun fight with townspeople and Marshal Matt Muckelroy. Wallace fell, but the rest of the gang escaped with $2,000 in bank notes and coins.

Since the centennial anniversary in 1994, the museum has annually presented a re-enactment, Dalton Days, with Wild West Shows, blacksmith demonstrations, children's activities and more. The museum also has a permanent exhibit appropriately placed in an old bank vault.

The event will take place at the Longview Rodeo Grounds. Tickets can be purchased at Louis Morgan Drugs #1, Horaney's Inc., Boot Barn, Jake's Feed, and DaltonDays.com
