As a college student, I encounter many students who party and drink underage. There are many who have never consumed alcohol before attending college, while others say their parents are aware of their underage drinking.

Some even say their parents often buy them liquor and drink with them. So, if the law is so strict about underage drinking, why do some parents seem to be so lax? Should the legal drinking age be lowered to 18 years old?

The debate has been going on for awhile now, but there hasn’t been any action taken to decide what should be done.

There seems to be two schools of thought: if you lower it to 18, would it create the same situation for teenagers younger than 18 like it currently is now with the drinking age at 21? Or would it be an attempt to solve a problem but only create more?
