Man Commits Suicide After Girlfriend Refuses to Quit Shopping

For many men, following their ladies around the shopping mall for hours on end can be torture. But for one Chinese man, it got so bad he decided to end his life.

38-year-old Tao Hsiao took his own life at Eagle International Shopping Center in Xuzhou, China, after his girlfriend refused to stop shopping. Hsiao leaped seven floors to his death in front of thousands of patrons at the enormous shopping mall.

Tao reportedly told his girlfriend it was time to leave after the two had spent five hours Christmas shopping. He apparently reached his limit when she requested to visit one more shoe store.

"He told her she already had enough shoes, more shoes that she could wear in a lifetime and it was pointless buying any more," an eyewitness said. "She started shouting at him accusing him of being a skinflint and of spoiling Christmas, it was a really heated argument."

Tao then threw her shopping bags over the railing before leaping himself, landing on a cosmetics stand seven floors below.
