Mandee’s Quick Vacation in the Hill Country [PHOTOS + VIDEO]
Last week I was out of the studio on vacation, and spent a couple of days hanging out with one of my best friends in Austin.
I drove to the hill country on Tuesday morning, arriving in Austin around 3:00 that afternoon to visit, and hopefully return to Top Golf for fun times with my buddy Angie. We caught up at the house first, and then decided to grab an early dinner before teeing off at TG.
Both of us love Italian food, so we decided to try Maggiano’s Little Italy. I had heard great things about the food, and wanted to try it. We sat in the bar and each ordered a delicious house salad, a drink each and a couple of appetizers.
After good food and drinks, we drove a few blocks over to Top Golf and quickly discovered that Tuesday night is not a slow night at TG. The parking lot was packed, so we passed and I talked Angie into heading north to the outlet mall in Round Rock.
After dropping some cash and walking off our dinner and drinks, I left with new shoes, a blazer and cardigan. My fall essentials were taken care of, and I had uninterrupted girl time with one of my besties. It was great fun.
We arrived around 10:00 am, early enough to get a great parking spot, find a chaise lounge to plant our things, rent a locker and walk immediately onto one of my favorite rides, The Raging River. We didn’t take a camera with us, but this lady recorded the ride in three parts in 2009.
We spent the majority of our time in the West portion of the park, also known as the Original Schlitterbahn, but we did venture over to the East side and enjoyed floating through their new ride The Falls.
After a long day at the water park, we stopped off for some yummy Mexican food at Trudy’s. I enjoyed another mojito and a delicious plate of cheese enchiladas with chili con carne sauce. Our trip back into the city was set to the old school jams of *NSYNC.
Thursday morning I was back on the road headed home, but stopped off first to fuel up and grabbed a Diet Coke to share with one of my favorite people at home.
All in all it was a great quick vacation.
