I've heard it referred to as "being Pat Greened" and every time I hear about Texas Music fans turning on the bands they've help build, I'm reminded of something I heard as a kid about lobsters.  Did you know lobster tanks don't need lids?  Because according to the story -- with lobsters, if one manages to start making it's way over the glass, out of the aquarium the other lobster will always pull it back down.  I don't know how true it is and Google didn't confirm it for me but it's interesting. The Texas/Red Dirt scope is broadening. The music we've managed to keep to ourselves for so long is sneaking out of the Texas and Oklahoma borders -- and this friends, is a good thing.

I'm excited to see what happens in the scene in 2012 -- The growth so far can be attributed to many things: the quality of music being put out, the ever expanding and non-stop touring schedules these bands keep and of course the ease of accessibility, what with iTunes and such. But also satellite radio, not beholden to the same things FM radio is, is able to play music just cause they wanna and for a national audience no less. And still another reason is television, stations like CMT and GAC and their interactive websites which expose people across The U.S. to music they might not otherwise hear, then allows them to vote and say exactly what they like.

Having said that a bunch of our friends are up for CMT Video of the year and the only way they'll have a chance of winning is if we vote, then tell our friends to do the same. And disclaimer: if I missed a video that should be in here, shoot me an email and I'll gladly add it to the mix.  You can vote for up to 20 videos -- and so here they are in no particular order the 14 videos I'd like to offer for your consideration as CMT video of the year.
