Longview native Matthew McConaughey picked up the Oscar for Best Actor last night with all of Longview and East Texas watching! Instead of thanking his managers, agents and so on, he thanked God. He was the first, by the way, to do so. Matthew won for his incredible role as Ron Woodruff in "Dallas Buyers Club." Here's a a little of his speech from last night:

"To my father, I know he's up there right now with a big pot of gumbo, he's got a lemon meringue pie, he's probably up there in his underwear, he's got a cold can of Miller lite and he's dancing right now. To my dad, you taught me what it means to be a man, to my mother, who's here tonight, you taught me and my two brothers, demanded, that we respect ourselves. What we in turn learned was, we were then better able to respect others."

Of course, Matthew got quite a his share of "haters" on social media for thanking God.  Personally, I stand by Matthew and God! What do you think?
