Miranda Lambert + Blake Shelton Celebrate First Anniversary [GALLERY]

Happy anniversary to Miranda and Blake Shelton! One year ago today, the couple got married in San Antonio at the Don Strange Ranch. I remember the wedding location was a huge secret with everybody taking guesses at where they thought the wedding location would be. All of East Texas was excited for our hometown girl!

It was almost like a royal wedding, and I guess in a way it was for East Texas! I'll never forget when US magazine hit the stands, I bought a copy and a bunch of us girls at work oooed and awwed over the pictures.

The wedding was described as "country chic!" They married on the 125-acre ranch in a lantern-lit barn with an antler chandelier above them and a cowhide rug beneath them. Miranda wore her mother's wedding gown and carried a bouquet of brooches made from costume jewelry. Pretty creative and definitely unique.

East Texan Neal McCoy was the entertainment and stars Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson also sang.

The cake was made to look like leather and accented with hot pink icing. The reception hall was decorated with hunting and fishing gear (just like a true East Texan!) and the guests ate venison that Miranda and Blake killed themselves!

This year has been a whirlwind of emotions for the couple. For the second year in a row, Blake and Miranda were named the Male and Female Vocalists of the Year at the CMA Awards in Nashville.  In April 2012, the two also made won again at the ACM Awards in Vegas.

The couple wrote the number hit ‘Over You’ together and Miranda put it on her ‘Four the Record’ album. The song was very personal for the two of them. It was about Blake's older brother that died in a car accident when Blake was only fourteen.

This past year the  Sheltons gained family members and lost some as well.

The couple gained three furry friends that they named, Ilsa, Ophelia and Batman. All three strays found their way to the Shelton/Lambert home in Oklahoma, and being a huge animal lovers, they kept them. On the down side, Miranda lost a couple of her pets too. Her dog Dixie whom Miranda had had for a very long time. She also lost Virgina who went missing.

The, in December, Blake Shelton‘s father’s health was failing and passed away in late January. Then less than 10 days after Blake's father passed, Miranda's dear friend since third grade, Mark Adams, was killed in a car accident. It was a rough time for the couple.

The Shelton's went on to sing at the Super Bowl and Blake returned to "The Voice." Then Blake got the cover of People for being country's hottest guy and Miranda was named one of People magazines most beautiful women of 2012!

Pretty eventful first year of marriage, wouldn't you agree?

I wonder what they are going to do to top their first year of marriage! I'm sure something great!
