East Texas will get a break from the rain, but it won't last long.

After a weekend that saw parts of the area get 10 to 15 inches of rain in one day, East Texas is forecast to receive even more rain Halloween weekend.

The Weather Channel forecasts at least an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms Friday (Oct. 30) through Sunday (Nov. 1), with more rain likely all of next week.

Much of Texas was pummeled by rain over the weekend, with flash flooding happening all over the state. The remnants of Hurricane Patricia, recorded as the strongest in history, were and are still being felt by the Lone Star State.

Corsicana received more than 20 inches of rain over Friday and Saturday, causing the closure of Interstate 45 and a Union Pacific train even derailed and fell over because of the massive amounts of rising water.

San Antonio broke its daily rainfall record by 10 a.m. Saturday.

The massive amounts of rain are happening in a year where Texas received major rainfall earlier in the year into the spring, followed by heavy drought conditions.

One major side effect of all the rain will be cooler temperatures throughout the area as we venture into November. The highs will hover around 70 degrees for the rest of this week, with the lows hovering around the mid-50s to 60.

Next week the high temperatures will stay in the middle to high 60s, with lows getting as low as 49 by the middle of the week.
