Congratulations are in order for Nacogdoches native Chuck French.  He is the Fire Academy Director at Angelina College and a conference on February 14th, French was named Texas Training Officer of the Year by the Texas Association of Fire Educators.

In addition to serving with AC’s Fire Academy, French, a Nacogdoches High School alumnus, has worked for Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue since 1993 and served as a Lufkin firefighter for an additional two years. French also serves as a member of the regional Pineywoods Incident Management team and as an instructor for the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System.

According to a press release from Angelina College, French’s colleagues expressed their respect for French and his latest award.

“Captain French is a valuable asset to the City of Nacogdoches and the entire state of Texas,” Nacogdoches Fire and Rescue chief Keith Kiplinger said in a statement. “Chuck has responded on multiple deployments and has trained hundreds of firefighters during his career.”

In addition to receiving the award, French was elected to a two-year term as President of the Texas Association of Fire Educators.
