Polarizing Texas A&M quarterback and Tyler native Johnny Manziel has been suspended for the first half against Rice, according to a report from ESPN.

The suspension follows several news reports on recent issues involving last year's Heisman Trophy winner, and ESPN reports this "closes the book" on Manziel.

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that the NCAA was looking into whether Manziel was paid for signing autographs at several locations, including in South Florida around the BCS National Championship game. Also, ESPN reported that a set of autograph dealers claimed that Manziel accepted payments to sign more than 4,000 items, including footballs and photographs, at an event in Connecticut in late January.

NCAA investigators reportedly spent a lot of time with Manziel this past Sunday, questioning him about being paid for autographs. This has left many news outlets reporting a deal was reached between the NCAA and Texas A&M to decide Manziel's punishment.

From the looks of it, no further action will be taken.
