The Tyler Police Department will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the new South Tyler Police Substation on Monday, Jan. 11.

Living in Tyler, you know the south end of town is growing rapidly. Over the past couple of years, the southern end has seen considerable growth, not only from the retail sector, but residential, too.

With all of this growth in the city, the Tyler Police Department is expanding with its new substation.

The new Tyler Police Substation is adjacent to Faulkner Park off S. Broadway Ave. This new facility, which was paid for by the half-cent sales tax, will allow patrol officers assigned to the southern reaches of the city more time to maximize their time while on the beat and should reduce call times during emergencies.

This new facility will also be available for criminal investigators, community response officers and will also provide the department with evidence and short term property storage.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Monday (Jan. 11) at 547 W. Cumberland Rd.
