Miss Texas, Miss America, Miss Teen Texas ... we all know about pageants, right?  But have you heard of the Ms. Wheelchair U.S.A.? If you haven't, you have now. I'm so excited to write about Olivia LeVoy, of Flint, who will represent the state of Texas at this year's Ms. Wheelchair U.S.A.

I wasn't familiar with this competition, so I Googled it. And I was blown away with what this organization does for not only women with disabilities, but for communities throughout the U.S.

The Ms. Wheelchair U.S.A. program was established in 1972 by an Ohio physician, who realized the potential of theses wonderful ladies. The program is dedicated to celebrating abilities and successful accomplishments of women with disabilities. The pageant showcases the success of theses women who have overcome many obstacles and are contributing to society. There is no age limit (although contestants must be at least 18) or marital status requirement to compete.

I'm already loving this story!

Olivia was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is a Type 3 form of Muscular Dystrophy. Despite what could be a devastating disability, Olivia has beaten the odds and now encourages others to find a way to be positive and move forward no matter your situation.. At 20 years old, Olivia attends Tyler Junior College and majors in agriculture. She has plans on attending Texas A&M and getting her degree to become either an agriculture teacher or lawyer.

Olivia has a passion for animals and has spent most of her life attending livestock shows and showing her prize animals in the arena. She will be the first contestant to be involved in agriculture.

As Ms. Wheelchair Texas, Olivia is preparing for the competition interview, platform and on-stage competition. She also has to get state sponsors on board to help cover the entry and travel fees.

What can I say, Olivia LeVoy is a special lady! Let's support Olivia on her road to the Ms. Wheelchair U.S.A and help her achieve her dreams. KNUE and East Texas are behind you all the Olivia!
