Pistol Annies Perform ‘Bad Moon Rising’ With John Fogerty
Wednesday night, Miranda Lambert and her band of backwoods babes, the Pistol Annies, played Los Angeles’ House of Blues with their usual sassy, energetic musical charm. But that wasn’t all they brought to the stage with them this time. For this one, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty joined the girls onstage, announcing that he had the best seat in the house.
Though Lambert herself has won enough awards as of late to make a crowd starstruck in her presence, even she seemed to gush over her new friendship with Fogerty. “I don’t mean to brag,” she said before her song ‘Dear Diamond,’ according to Rolling Stone. “But he texted me and told me this is one of his favorites.”
Later in the night, Fogerty performed a version of CCR’s ‘Bad Moon Rising’ with the female trio. Lambert bounced around, offering vocals and playing her acoustic guitar, all the while occasionally looking offstage and pointing in disbelief at Fogerty, as if to say, “Can you believe this?” The crowd hollered their high-pitched approval.
In addition to stepping into the realm of classic rock, Lambert and her bandmates – Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe — performed most of the material from their chart-topping debut, ‘Hell on Heels,’ as well as a bunch of cover songs sprinkled in for old time’s sake. At one point in the night, Lambert described her free-spirited group as “a bunch of girlfriends up here acting like fools.” But what most people saw was a bunch of girlfriends having a blast and, at the same time ,offering up some great music.
