Purple Heart Recipient Proposes to His Rehab Nurse at Country for Our Country

Country for Our Country celebrated its fourth year last weekend at Villa Di Felicita in Tyler. An event focused on honoring and remembering our past and present military heroes, Country for Our Country is one all of East Texas can be proud of for supporting wounded military veterans.

And, at this year's event, there was something a little extra special.

Army SPC Andy Burnett is an Afghanistan war veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. After he was wounded and wheelchair-bound, he met his rehab nurse, Elisabeth Cercek.

After his rehab, the two started dating. Then, at an event where he was honored for his sacrifice in war, he used it as an opportunity (with a little help from country singer Heidi Newfield) to tell Elisabeth he "doesn't want to date anymore."
