Radio Station Fulfills Woman’s Christmas Wish, Two Years After She Died [VIDEO]

Brenda Schmitz, Star 102.5

Here’s a warning: If you’re not in the mood to cry, you don’t want to read any further.

Because what one man experienced last week is simply indescribable.

A woman’s dying wish for her husband and her family was fulfilled by their local radio station, with a catch: It came more than two years after she died, and much of her wish was focused on her husband’s new wife.

Brenda Schmitz passed away in 2011, just a few months after she was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer.

About a month before she died, Brenda wrote a few letters and gave them to a close, anonymous friend with clear instructions: She wasn’t to do anything with the letters until her husband, David, had moved on and found a new wife, something Brenda told him to do before she died.

David is now engaged to Jayne Abraham. David has the four boys he had with Brenda, and Jayne has two kids of her own.

With David engaged to be married, Brenda’s friend fulfilled her wish of sending her letters to radio station KSTZ Star 102.5 in Des Moines, Iowa. Brenda was always a fan of the station’s fulfillment of local residents’ Christmas wishes, and she had a wish she wanted to be granted, her dying wish.

“There was no question that we were going to do something for this wish,’ station manager Scott Allen told the Des Moines Register. ‘It was what could we do that would be deserving of Brenda’s name and memory.”

Brenda had a wish for her family, the doctors and nurses who cared for her during her treatment, and amazingly enough, the woman David would be marrying. The pure selflessness this woman had only speaks to her character and the legacy she would leave behind for her family, and ultimately anyone who knows her story.

Star 102.5 called David to the station, revealed to him Brenda’s letter and Christmas wishes … and then they fulfilled every one of them.
