The central and southern regions of the Lone Star State have been getting hammered with unprecedented amounts of rain, and East Texas could start getting its share of he same from today through Sunday.

Meteorologists from the First Alert weather center at KLTV say widespread rainfall is moving our way and we could be stuck in a stormy weather pattern through at least Sunday.

East Texas could be looking at the potential for a couple of inches or rain from now through Sunday, with the bulk of the rain coming Thursday and Friday. Those storms could cause some flash flooding issues in the area. From now through the end of the weekend there is a good chance of rain each and every day with some thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall at times.

Be alert over the next few days and if it rains pretty hard and you're out driving and encounter rushing water or just water over the roadway, turn around don't drown.

Eventually things will turn around and it'll be hot and humid again, just like a typical East Texas summer pattern!
