Rascal Flatts Spotlight: Gary LeVox

KNUE and Taste of Country are bringing you the chance to see and meet Rascal Flatts at their concert in Florida in February. We all know that as a trio, Rascal Flatts has made a name for themselves and is one of the biggest acts in music. But have you ever wondered where each of the guys came from individually? Well we're going to spotlight each of the Flatts boys and give you a little insight into who they are. First up: lead singer Gary LeVox.

Lead singer Gary LeVox, born Gary Wayne Vernon, was born in Columbus, Ohio in the summer of 1970. Growing up, he and cousin Jay DeMarcus (also a member of R.F.) constantly played and wrote music together. LeVox graduated from Ohio State University, then took a job at the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation. After a lot of convincing, DeMarcus convinced Gary to move to Nashville and pursue their musical dreams in 1997.

Gary's parents divorced when he was eight. His mother remarried when he was 10 and he was very close to his stepfather until the couple divorced when he was 18. He married Tara, his wife of 12 years, in 1999, just before the debut CD of Rascal Flatts. Together the couple have two daughters: 11 year-old Brittany and 7 year-old Brooklyn. LeVox is often seen with his family at events and on the red carpet.
