Reba McEntire has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Little Big Town's current single, "Girl Crush," showing her support for the vocal group.

The country superstar posted the picture above to Facebook, depicting her in a Girl Crush hat with the caption, "Tipping my hat to my friends Little Big Town for their single #girlcrush!"

The song is the second single from the Grammy-winning group's current album, Pain Killer, after its first single, "Day Drinking," reached No. 1. The controversy around it began began when a guest blogger called “TexMex” on For the Country Record posted that it had been moved to light rotation after his station was inundated with complaints from listeners who believed the lyrics were premised on a lesbian crush.

The song is actually about a jealous woman who is obsessed with a man's current flame, wanting to emulate her so she can attract the man: “I want to taste her lips / Yeah, ’cause they taste like you … I want her magic touch / Yeah, ’cause maybe then you’d want me just as much / I got a girl crush.”

The Washington Post and many other media outlets reported that the song was being pulled from stations all over the country, though Billboard claims that the controversy is mostly media-driven, pointing out that the song is receiving spins on 139 out of 145 reporting stations. For the Country Record revealed the source of the original report was Lee France, the music director for WACO 100 FM and KAGG-FM in Texas, and is sticking by the veracity of the story, while LBT have recorded a commercial to play at country radio, explaining the lyrics to the song.
