Reba McEntire struck sitcom gold with her first series, the sensibly titled ‘Reba,’ which ran on the WB and CW networks from 2001-2007. She’s concentrated on her music career since ‘Reba’ left the air, releasing a trio of bestselling albums — including her most recent effort, 2010′s ‘All the Women I Am’ — and returning to the road for successful tours.

Viewers who still mourn the loss of ‘Reba’ can take comfort, however because Reba has announced that she hopes to return to the small screen as the star and executive producer of an ABC series titled ‘Malibu Country.’

“I know you’ve all been asking, and I can confirm that the rumors are true,” McEntire said. “We had our meeting yesterday with the folks at ABC, and we now have a pilot with ABC! That means we will shoot the pilot next April, and if everything goes like we hope it will, we’ll be shooting next August! Wooohooooo! I’m so excited about doing another TV sitcom! I miss the ‘Reba’ show so much so it will be great to get back into the TV world again!”

As she did with ‘Reba,’ McEntire will play a single mom in ‘Malibu Country,’ which revolves around the adventures of a divorcee who attempts to resurrect her singing career after moving her three kids from Nashville to Malibu.
