At Churchill High School in San Antonio, students were filmed using a cat's intestine as a jump rope.

The dissected cat was used in the anatomy class and the jump rope demonstration was to show the strentgh of the intestine.

The teacher was given the same example in college and felt it would have been effective for her students.

"This lesson really was not meant to be disrespectful or degrading in any way. And when the teacher found out that that's how it was being portrayed, they were actually very upset about it," North East Independent School District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor told KENS-TV in San Antonio.

Of course, PETA got a hold of the footage and said students should be held accountable.

"Studies show that classroom animal dissection can foster callousness toward living beings, and these gruesome 'jump rope' videos are a particularly sad example," PETA Senior Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns Marta Holmberg said. "PETA is calling on Winston Churchill High School to teach its students to respect life and science by replacing crude and cruel animal dissection with humane and effective non-animal teaching methods."

PETA did offer the school district some digital dissection resources so the school would not have to use real animals in the future. They have not taken PETA up on the offer as of yet.

Below is the video of the incident. It does show the students while they are dissecting the animal and using the intestine as the jump rope. Watch at your own risk.
