For most students in East Texas, school is back in session today. For my child, it's the first day of her senior year. Wow! I have to admit, I had a little lump in my throat when I woke her this morning. It seemed only yesterday that I walked her to kindergarten.

Where did the time go? It's true what they say, the older you get, the faster time goes.

It was always exciting to get to school so you can see your friends that you hadn't seen over the summer. It was fun to put on your new  new school clothes and put your fresh school supplies in your new cool backpack.

To you parents who are taking your little ones to kindergarten, soak in the moment because before you know it, they too will be seniors. I feel for you having to watch this little person whom you love with all your heart, walk into school. It's exciting, but in some ways sad. Don't worry, you'll get over it quickly.

Those of you who have teenagers, especially female teens, know that high school can be a little "dicey." There was a time, or two, or three, that I thought we would never get through school. But I was pleasantly surprised that she was in a great mood, and even had some conversation with me. Even telling me she was "excited" about school this year. (I tried not to look shocked). So far so good.

Have a great school year everyone and just know that it's a great part of life, that goes by in a blink of an eye.
