DALLAS -- Seven people have been named in a health care fraud scheme including the owner of a medical service provider.

The federal indictment alleges the defendants bilked Medicare and Medicaid of nearly $375 million for more than five years beginning in January 2006.

The indictment names Jacque Roy, a doctor who owned Medistat Group Associates in Desoto and alleges he led a scheme that billed Medicare for home health care services that were not medically necessary or were not done.

East Texas Man Jailed on Child Sex Abuse Charge

HENDERSON - A Henderson man has been charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a child.

41 year old Juan Manuel Bernal may face additional charges and is currently being held in the Rusk County Jail on a $250,000 bond. The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal investigation Division arrested Bernal Monday.

Authorities have not released details of the incident at this time, but did say the investigation is ongoing.

TYLER -- A woman yelling for help alerted neighbors, who called police and led officers to the arrest of two people. Police responded to the call at 1012 Robertson Avenue in reference to a possible kidnapping. Witnesses told police a woman was forced into her vehicle as she was yelling for help.

A short time later police spotted the vehicle and arrested the driver 22 year old Kevin Loria, he is charged with aggravated kidnapping. Another passenger was arrested on a drug charge. The female victim was taken to a local hospital for observation and treated for minor injuries.

 

Texas Primary Set for May 29

SAN ANTONIO — A federal court has issued new congressional and state House maps in time for Texas to hold its primary on May 29. The ruling yesterday could clear the way for the primary, if none of the groups contesting the political districts files an appeal. Minority groups have accused the Republican-led Legislature of drawing maps that discriminated against them.

 

Man Who Killed Officer to be Executed Tonight

HUNTSVILLE — The leader of the notorious "Texas 7" gang is set to be executed tonight for killing a suburban Dallas police officer during a 2000 robbery. George Rivas and his accomplices killed a 29-year-old Irving officer two weeks after pulling off the biggest prison break in Texas history. Barring any last-minute reprieve, he'll be the second person executed for the slaying.
