The National Weather Service has issued severe thunderstorm warnings at several parts of East Texas, and residents are advised to exercise caution -- especially driving home this evening during rush hour.

Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for northwestern Cherokee County, southern Smith County, southeastern Henderson County and northern Anderson County.

The warnings for Smith and Cherokee counties are until 4:45 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. for Henderson and Anderson counties.

The National Weather Service says these storms, which are moving south-southeast, are capable of producing 60-plus mph winds and quarter-sized hail. Cloud-to-ground lightning also has been spotted.

Residents in south Tyler, Whitehouse, Bullard, Troup and Arp are being asked to exercise extra caution.
