This weekend my family actually was home together for the first time in ... I don't know when. We decided to take the time to enjoy a movie matinee. We chose "Trouble With the Curve" starring Clint Eastwood. It was a great choice. The movie doesn't have action, it's not scary, it has no special effects. But what it does have is heart.

Rarely do we have the time, or open afternoon, to all be together. So when we do get time, we like to go to the movies. Strangely enough, my family bonds at movies. Crazy, huh?

Clint Eastwood plays an aging baseball scout who is having some trouble with his sight, so his daughter, played by the adorable and talented Amy Adams, helps him out. They are not as close as the daughter would like, and the movie plays that scenario out beautifully. The movie was sweet, funny, sad and at times, emotional.

My husband's father passed away at the young age of 57. He was a huge baseball fan, ("Cubbies!") and this movie reminded us of him. At one part during the movie, I noticed my daughter and I were holding my husband's hands. Sappy right?

Oh well, it just goes to show that you don't have to be on a lavish vacation, or be entertained all the time, to just enjoy each other. We are so busy, with each of us going in different directions all the time. It's just nice to stop and enjoy special moments together.

Think about it, maybe it's time to slow down and take the time to reconnect and appreciate each other. Time seems to be running faster and faster. I find myself wondering where all the time went.

I love my family and I want to make a better effort at enjoying them and making those special memories.

Guess I was a little sentimental this weekend. I hope you take the time to slow down and enjoy your family. There's nothing like it!
