From the director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, that movie where Jason Segel showed the world his undercarriage, and Neighbors, comes Storks, an adorable animated movie for the whole family! Of course!

Yes, Nicholas Stoller is the writer and one of the two directors on Warner Bros.’ Storks. (The other is Doug Sweetland, a former Pixar animator who worked on Toy StoryMonsters. Inc., and The Incredibles and directed one of the very best Pixar shorts, “Presto.”) They’ve assembled quite a cast for this movie about birds delivering babies, including Andy Samberg, Jennifer Aniston, Kelsey Grammar, Ty Burrell, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Danny Trejo. Here’s the plot description from IMDb:

Storks have moved on from delivering babies to packages. But when an order for a baby appears, the best delivery stork must scramble to fix the error by delivering the baby.

I am kind of fascinated that Stoller, a guy who has almost exclusively focused on adult comedies (he co-wrote Sex Tape for crying out loud) hatched up this Storks idea. (To be fair, Stoller did also co-write The Muppets and Muppets Most Wanted.) Where did this impulse to move in a younger direction, and to do an animated movie, come from? It will be interesting to find out, and to see whether he makes that transition smoothly when Storks comes to theaters on September 23.
