Central Texas ranks in any number of studies for being one of the best places to live in America, but a recent study by Rent Application.com gave one Central Texas city a more dubious honor: placing among the top 10 cities in America for residents per capita with sexually transmitted diseases.

This map about STD statistics was created and produced by RentApplication.com .

Killeen-Fort Hood finds itself 9th on this list behind much larger cities including New Orleans, Baltimore, Philadelphia and St. Louis.

The data used here comes from the CDC for 2013, and reflects reports of syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia. (Herpes data is not collected).  To normalize the data, we measured rates per 100,000 people. - Rent Application.com

According to the data, Killeen-Fort Hood has over 1500 STDs per 100,000 people. It also signals an alarming trend. While most of the country's STD rates have been leveling off, this hasn't been the case among military bases. Fort Bragg, NC and Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia also landed in the top 10 of this list as well.
