Travel in parts of East Texas late this weekend and next week will be tough thanks to the 'super load' that will be making its way into Longview.

Traffic is expected to be delayed and congested along farm-to-market roads, U.S. highways and more beginning Sunday afternoon when the 'super load' makes its way across the Texas-Louisiana border along US Highway 79.

According to KSLA, the trip begins in Shreveport on Friday morning and will be traveling at a maximum speed of 5 mph for the entire journey. The super load is headed to Eastman Chemical in Longview and will be carrying a cold box that will be used in chemical production.

The term 'super load' is used in this journey because of the shear size of the move! The load measures 275 feet long and is 25 feet high and 18 feet wide. This move will involve multiple law enforcement agencies, utility companies and more. Utility companies will be escorting the 'super load' along the route adjusting power lines so that the load may pass under.

Some customers around the super load area will be without power as it travels slowly down the road.

The 'super load' will make its way into Texas on US Highway 79 toward the NE Loop around Carthage and then north up along US Highway 59 toward Tatum on FM 1794. Once in Tatum, the 'super load' will go south on State Highway 43 through the city of Tatum to State Highway 149 west toward Interstate 20.

The 'super load' will not access I-20, just the frontage road and on to Callahan Road and its final destination of Eastman Chemical.

If you travel these roads in East Texas just be prepared for long delays. You'll definitely want a GPS unit along with you to provide you with an alternate back road route!
