It’s Hot Outside, But Here’s Five Places Hotter than East Texas

Sure, it’s hot out today here in East Texas. But lets not forget we just cracked triple digits this week and we’re not even supposed to get that high today — But regardless, I know it’s still hot. So since I can’t buy you all a snow-cone, here’s a list of five places that are MUCH hotter than ET, to hopefully help you feel a few degrees cooler today, ya big baby.

5. St. louis missouri, usa

According to Weather.com, the home of the 2011 World Series Champions, St. Louis had its hottest day in nearly fifty-years yesterday as temps peaked at 108 degrees around The Gateway to the West.

4.The Turpan Depression, china

Wikipedia says, “The Turpan Basin is a fault-bounded trough located in the eastern part of the Tian Shan. The Turpan Basin has a hot and arid continental climate in which the precipitation is far less than the potential evaporation. July is the hottest month with an average maximum temperature of 103.5°F. Only thing worse than that heat — being that hot, in China!

3.washington d.c., usa

If you hadn’t noticed, there’s a smoldering heat wave sweeping Central and mid-Atlantic states. And with a temperature of 101°F and heat index of 110°F, No. 3 goes to our nations capital, Washington D.C.

2.El Azizia, libya

At one point it was home to the hottest temperature ever recorded. On September 13, 1922 the thermometer reached a blistering 136° F. That’s hot Libya, but y’all don’t know nothing about East Texas humidity.

1.Dasht-e Lut, Iran

Number 1 goes to a place where some speculate that no living creature can be found in. Dasht-E Lut is a salt desert and 25th largest desert in the world. One reason it’s so hot there is the area is covered with black volcano lava, and we all know what the color black does — absorbs heat. The black rocks along with it being a desert (of course) help contribute to temps reaching as high as 159°F.
