Suspect Jumps in Front of Cars After Eluding Tyler Police

Authorities say a suspect is in custody after running from Tyler police and jumping in front of cars on Loop 323 near the campus of Robert E. Lee High School.

Tyler Police arrested Alvord Martin, 23, when he ran from police who were investigating the alleged assault of a female at a nearby office building.

Martin fled from police and ran across the campus of Robert E. Lee High School, and into the roadway darting in and out of traffic. One motorist said Martin leaped in front of her car forcing her to slam on the brakes to keep from hitting him.

Police caught up with the suspect around Loop 323 and Donnybrook where he was taken into custody and jailed on multiple charges including with evading arrest and assault.

During the chase Robert E.Lee High School was put on lockdown for a short period.
