On September 12th, George Jones turned 80 years young.  The Grand Ol Opry in Nashville hosted a huge birthday party for him.

The event featured performances by Joe Diffie, Jamey Johnson, and the Oak Ridge Boys.

One of my favorites from the night was when Alan Jackson and Lee Ann Womack got on stage together and sang the classic,  'Golden Ring'.

Check out the video after the jump.

Alan Jackson’s ‘Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning’ [VIDEO]

It was the song that hit home with me ten years ago when I watched terrorists fly two planes into  the World Trade Center Towers in New York City.  Alan Jackson's 'Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)' . It spoke to  every emotion I was feeling and probably millions of other Americans were feeling as well. According to The Boot, the song became one of the most successful singles of Alan's  career.

And with more than 25 chart-topping country hits (and more than 30 million albums sold in the US alone), it’s pretty hard to argue with Alan Jackson at number one.
