Congratulations are in order for Luke Bryan. The ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ singer’s new album, ‘Tailgates and Tanlines,’ is not only the top-selling country album, it’s number two on Billboard’s overall top 200 albums chart.
‘Tailgates’ is Bryan’s first chart-topping album, outpacing 2009′s ‘Doin’ My Thing,’ which peaked at number two on the country charts and number six on the top 200. With first-week sales of more than 145,000 units, it’s the second highest-selling debut for a country artist this year, behind only Brad Paisley‘s ‘This Is Country Music.’
Rascal Flatts latest album 'Nothing Like This' has been such a success that within the first-week of sales the group became one of only four country acts to debut six consecutive studio albums at #1. Since 2000, the band has sold more than 20 million albums and 25 million digital downloads and celebrated 13 #1 singles to the top of the chart.
The spotlight artist of the week on KNUE is the multi-talented trio, Rascal Flatts. "Bless the Broken Road" is a song that has been recorded by several American country music artists. It was co-written by Marcus Hummon and members of the country music group Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1994, and recorded by Hummon a year later. Since then, Melodie Crittenden, Geoff Moore, Sons of the Desert, Selah, Jamie Slocum, Carrie Underwood, and Rascal Flatts have all recorded the song as well. Of the multiple versions that exist, Rascal Flatts' version is the highest-charting, becoming a Number One hit on the Billboard country music charts in 2005 and earning the songwriters a Grammy Award for Best Country Song.

The death of 5 people and the 45 people injured in Saturday night's tragedy at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, has touched all of us. I know when I heard the terrible news I was stunned. Reports say that high winds toppled the stage to the ground. The crowd was there to see headliner Sugarland. Thank goodness they had not taken the stage yet.

By early 2011, Lady Antebellum's' Need You Now' had sold more than 3 million copies in the U.S. alone, and was the No. 1 downloaded country song of all time! Lady A took a break from recording a third studio album in order to attend the Grammy's, where they took home five awards, including the all-genre trophys for record and song of the year. The trio also won the group video honor at the 2011 CMT Music Awards for "Hello World."
Lady Antebellum made a deep impression with country fans! That is evident in the many accolades the trio has won! Since Lady Antebellum won the Country Music Association Awards New Artist of the Year award in 2008, they have accumulated seven more awards, including their first Grammy in 2010 for Best Country Performance by Duo or Group with Vocals. At the 2009 CMA's, the group ended Rascal Flatts' six-year reign as Vocal Group of the Year. At the 2010 CMA's, the group became the first artist in CMA Award history to receive the Single of the Year honor for two consecutive years.
