Turnpike Troubadours spent one week at No. 1 before vacating it to make way for JB and the Moonshine Band. These young bands are proving to be two of the top new bands in Texas and Oklahoma. Last year Turnpike Troubadours beat out JB and the Moonshine Band for Best New Band at The Texas Regional Radio Music Awards. And now they are duke-ing it out for radio play. It appears the future of Texas and Red Dirt Music is in good hands.

In three short years JB Patterson, the frontman for JB and the Moonshine Band, went from a career in advertising to playing shows across the country, including the Taste of Country Christmas Tour. Had he auditioned for some reality television show or landed one of his songs on a major movie soundtrack, this rapid ascent would make sense. Hayes was recently diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, but the good news is it is now in remission.  Hayes wrote and recorded the song 'Is it Already Time' which depicts his feelings over the past several months.
