Following the 9/11 attacks, our country became unified in a way that had never been seen before. Everyone was in the dark and unsure of what was to come and people had lost hope. But in a time when there was so much chaos, there was one thing that brought everyone together: music. It doesn't matter which genre, music just has this ability to bring peace and hope and unify people and after 9/11 there were plenty of songs that did just that. Here is a list of songs songs that either pay tribute to 9/11, or have become somewhat of an anthem to Americans everywhere.

9/11 Memorial Misspells Victim's Name

In an “oops” of epic proportions, a 9/11 victim’s name was apparently misspelled on the New York memorial unveiled this past weekend.

Jeffrey Schreier worked for financial firm Cantor Fitzgerald, and was one of the many from that company killed on September 11, 2001.

When his relatives visited the memorial during the 10th anniversary commemorations on Sunday, they were shocked to see his first name had been spelled “Jeffery” instead.

It's hard to believe it 's been 10 years since we watched in horror the World Trade Centers crash to the ground. It 's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the Pentagon was struck by an airplane flown by a terrorists. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years since the brave and unselfish group of men and women flying on United flight 93, sacrificed their lives to save others. It's hard to believe their could be so much hate in the world. Always remember, never forget.

National 9/11 Flag Touring the United States

After the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, one of the largest American flags damaged during the attacks continued to fly above the resulting wreckage during the clean-up efforts.

Seven years later, that flag, dubbed the National 9/11 Flag, was sewn back together by tornado survivors in Greensburg, Kansas, and has also been stitched by World War II veterans, survivors of the Ft. Hood, Texas rampage, and Martin Luther King Jr.’s family.

Construction is well underway in New York City’s Ground Zero area, site of the September 11th terrorist attacks, on 1 World Trade Center. It will be the tallest building in the US when finished, measuring 1,776 feet (a nod to the year the Declaration of Independence was signed).
