It’s been nearly 25 years since Def Leppard hit their commercial peak with the $12-million-selling ‘Hysteria’ album, but they can still pack ‘em in on the road. In fact, the veteran rockers’ latest run of dates — a package tour with fellow classic rock legends Heart — was the top-grossing draw of the last three months.
They faced some pretty stiff competition for concert dollars, too; with an overall gross of $14.5 million, the Def Leppard/Heart lineup bested the latest tours from the Red Hot Chili Peppers (in second place with $9.2 million) and Tim McGraw (in third with $7.4 million).
Country's favorite sweethearts, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will tour Australia for the first time together next March.
The Tim McGraw & Faith Hill Australia 2012 tour will be the first time the country music superstars have toured together outside of North America. The tour includes the couple performing separately and together.
These days, it seems as if Tim McGraw is accomplishing life’s dreams left and right. Besides being one of country music’s biggest superstars, the singer is also a critically-acclaimed actor after starring in various big-screen roles including ‘Flicka,’ ‘The Blind Side’ and most recently, ‘Dirty Girl.’
While the dispute between Tim McGraw and his record label, Curb Records, won’t be settled until next summer at the earliest, a November hearing will decide if the singer can record new music in the interim.
Clint Eastwood isn’t exactly known for romances, either as an actor or as a director, so when word surfaced that he was planning to helm a remake of ‘A Star Is Born’ with Tim McGraw as a possible star, people naturally wanted to know more. We’ve heard plenty of the rumors as well, including the reported involvement (and subsequent un-involvement) of Beyoncé Knowles and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Little has been made official, however, so you can hardly blame the hosts of NBC’s ‘Today’ for trying to pry the scoop from McGraw during an interview.
The last time they toured together, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw shattered records, so when they announced they’d be teaming up again for a string of Australian dates next year, American promoters — and plenty of American fans — were hoping it’d be the prelude for a stateside sequel.
Better start saving up for those plane tickets now, though, because McGraw and Hill say their Australian shows will be the only ones they do together in 2012.
The last time Tim McGraw and Faith Hill went on tour together, it went pretty well — the string of dates they shared in 2006 and 2007 broke the record for the top-grossing country tour of all time.
Next year, they’ll take their act on the road again, and although this looks like a much shorter run — only six dates have been announced — they’ll still be covering a lot of distance. In fact, they’re heading all the way to Australia.
Clint Eastwood is famous in Hollywood for being a fast, no-nonsense director who brings his films in on time and under budget, but his next project — a remake of ‘A Star Is Born’ — is having trouble just getting started.
Eastwood initially cast Beyoncé in the lead, but her pregnancy seems likely to keep her from making the planned February 2012 start date, and his preferred leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio, has reportedly turned down the role. According to CMT’s sources, DiCaprio’s loss could end up being Tim McGraw‘s gain.
Between the two of them, the husband-and-wife duo Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have sold over 80 million albums and notched almost 30 number one singles on the country charts. What does that kind of success buy you?
