It's a fun gig...being the public address announcer at SFA.  In addition to being an active part of NCAA Division One Basketball, I also get to witness some great round ball and passionate fans when it comes to regional tournament time.

Friday evening, I got to see a couple of East Texas teams stake their claim for regional champion as Tatum downed Jarrell, 61-44, behind 34 points from Robbie Rockwell, and then in the night cap, White Oak took care of Salado 62-44 using a balanced attacked spearheaded by Kris Anderson's 19 points and Josh Benson's 13, which included a half court buzzer beater to end the first half.

So, now it's a re-rematch.  These district foes will play each other for a 3rd time Saturday at noon at SFA to see who will go to the high school version of the final four in Austin.  The Roughnecks are 2-0 this year against the Eagles, but they were slim margins of victory.

So, this should be a great one, and the house will be a rockin'.  By the way, if you're coming to the game, try to make a day of it.  The SFA Lumberjacks will play at 6 this evening against Northwestern State in a battle for first place.  SFA leads the nation in scoring defense while NSU leads the nation in scoring offense.  It should be a great game...and bring some purple because if you wear purple, you'll get free admission into the SFA game.
