The planning is underway for the Texas State Railroad’s 16th annual Salute to the Armed Forces event, set for Memorial Day weekend May23-25. The event is a way for us to pay tribute to all branches and all eras of military service.

This year’s event will feature the traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall along with the Cost of Freedom Tribute. The event also will showcase military re-enactment groups, living history exhibits, static military exhibits, booths by military support groups, booths by paid vendors, food vendors, a children’s activity area and much more.

Don't miss the three short train rides per day during this three-day event, with current and former military can ride the train for free with an I.D.

If you would like to participant in the event, booths are available at no charge to non-profit entities. For-profit entities have the option of purchasing an open-air booth for a fee of $50 for the three days, or a booth under a large event tent for a fee of $75 for the three days. This is a family-friendly event and the railroad reserves the right to decline applications.

You must register in advance with the event director and submit the required paperwork and any applicable fees no less than two weeks in advance of the event. Forms and more information can be found on the Texas State Railroad’s web site.
