If you are a golfer, and I know there are a lot of you out there in East Texas, this weekend is the holy grail of golf tournaments for you!

The 79th Annual Masters Golf Tournament is scheduled to start tomorrow (Thursday) with round one play. The home of the Masters is a sleepy little country club called the Augusta National Golf Club, nestled behind high walls and view-imposing trees, right in the heart of Augusta, Ga.

The tournament has a number of traditions. Since 1949, a green sport coat has been awarded to the champion who must return it to the clubhouse one year after their victory. They are allowed to wear the jacket year after year to signify they are a past champion, but they can only wear it during the week of the tournament, then the jacket must be returned to its resting place in the clubhouse.

In most instances, the green jacket is only removed from the club grounds by a first-time champion.

Another tradition is that since 1960, a semi-social contest at the par 3 course has been played on Wednesday, the day before the first round. This event brings out many of the game's greats like Jack Nicklaus, Sam Sneed, and Tiger Woods.
