The Clock is Ticking Down to the Third Annual Granger Smith Boot Walk
Come April 7, for the third consecutive year, Granger Smith will be leaving on foot from South Austin on a 100-mile trek to Fort Hood in combat boots to show support for our military men and women.
Last year Governor Rick Perry, former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell and a slew of other artists, fans and military supporters joined Granger and company, and this year’s walk is expected to bring out even more folks.
There are some Americans who understand and appreciate the price our military men and women pay, and the sacrifices they make. For them it’s a part of who they are. And whether it’s innately a part of you, or you were taught by parents and grand parents who understood — if you get it, you’ll always get it.
And then there are people who don’t understand it and never will. However Granger acquired his understanding, he’s one of the ones that get’s it.
Here’s the official release for the 3rd Annual Granger Smith Boot Walk:
For the third straight year, country music artist Granger Smith is walking 100 miles in combat BOOTS! Since 2011, Granger has logged 200 miles in his boots – his way of paying tribute to all those serving our country in the U.S. Armed Forces. Because of his passion for our troops, Granger even wrote and recorded a successful song dedicated to our military men and women called, “That’s What I Do With It.”
This year Granger has set a fundraising goal of $20,000. All monies raised through the 3rd Annual Boot Walk will benefit the Boot Campaign, a national 501c3 non-profit dedicated to showing tangible appreciation of our active military, raising awareness of the challenges they face upon return and supporting their transition home.
A Boot Walk Celebration Concert will be held from 7:00-10:00pm on Thursday, April11th at Fort Hood Harley Davidson. Full Boot Walk and concert details are now posted on www.BootWalk.com.
