Break out the popcorn! The Downtown Tyler Film Festival is all set to return Liberty Hall Thursday, Oct. 11 through Sunday, Oct. 14.

We are looking forward to what is being billed as "a celebration of storytelling through film." The Downtown Tyler Film Festival has grown to be an international film festival comprised of short films from around the world; England, Uzbekistan, Iran and more. Additionally, the festival seeks to encourage locally made Texas independent films.

According to the press release, all entries are 15 minutes or less and represent a variety of genres including comedy, drama, documentary and science fiction.Thursday night will feature the work of numerous young filmmakers, students under the age of 18.

The top short films from each night will be re-shown in the “Best of the Fest” screening on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Contest winners will be announced and will receive cash prizes.

The daily pass for Thursday, Friday and Sunday is only $5; Saturday night’s “Texas Night,” which includes a pass to the wrap-up party at ETX Brewing Co., is $10; the Producer’s all-access pass is available for only $20.

More information is available at www.TylerFilmFest.com or by following Tyler Film Fest on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Any inquiries should be made to Liberty Hall at (903) 595-7248.

Organizer do want attendees to note that some films feature mature content. Parents are urged to use discretion and refer to the festival schedule and program guide for film content.
